INT. KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS

INT. LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS

He turns on the TV and slouches into the couch.

30 MINUTES LATER

His DAD enters.

DAD
Aaran, can you go get some stuff out of the garage? There should be a box labeled “GAF.” And try not to break something again.

Aaran mutters under his breath.

AARAN
How ’bout you go do it...

DAD
What was that?

AARAN
Nothing.

Aaran sighs, finishes his food, and heads outside.

EXT. GARAGE – DAY

He pushes the door open and steps inside. Dusty boxes and bags clutter the space. Aaran rifles through them until he finds the labeled box.

As he digs, something else catches his eye—a strange, old book.

AARAN
What the hell is this?

He flips through a few pages.

AARAN
What a pile of rubbish.

He tosses the book back, grabs the box, and leaves.

A beat of silence. Then—
A HAND grips the garage doorframe.

Scene 2 – INT. LIVING ROOM – DAY

Aaran sets the box down in front of his dad.

AARAN
I found a weird book in there. Where’d you get that from?

DAD
What does it look like?

AARAN
Old. Black cover. Kinda creepy.

DAD
Don’t be snooping around my stuff.

AARAN
I wasn’t snooping. Just looking.

DAD
I don’t care.

AARAN
Okay, okay. God.

Frustrated, Aaran heads to his room.

Scene 3 – INT. AARAN’S ROOM – LATE AFTERNOON

Aaran sits at his laptop, typing homework. After a while, he gets up.

INT. KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS

As he makes tea, he overhears his parents in the next room.

DAD (O.S.)
We can’t keep that book in the garage. It’s too risky.

MUM (O.S.)
I’ve been telling you for ages to get rid of it.

DAD (O.S.)
I just hope he didn’t open it...

Music swells. Aaran’s face drops in shock.

He rushes back to his room and searches online. He finds a single obscure article about the book.

AARAN (reading)
The Book of BOV... cursed potential. Creates a clone that tries to kill you and take your life. Punjab, 1600s...

He scoffs.

AARAN
Yeah, right. Total scare tactic.

He closes his laptop.

AARAN
Enough for one day. Time for bed.

Scene 4 – INT. AARAN’S ROOM – NIGHT

Aaran sleeps soundly.

BANG! A loud crash jolts him awake. He sits up, wide-eyed.

He waits. 15 minutes pass.

BANG! Again.

Aaran cautiously slips out of bed.

AARAN
(Sighing)
Mum, always up in the middle of the night...

INT. KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS

Through the cracked door, he spots a knife and cutting board on the counter.

AARAN
Mum must’ve left it out.

He puts things away, but when he picks up the knife—it’s WARM.

AARAN
Who’s been using this...?

Uneasy, he slides it back into the drawer. On his way to his room, he freezes.

At the end of the hall—
A BLACK FIGURE stands.

AARAN
Oh my God... who is that?

The figure imitates his every move.

Panicked, Aaran bolts upstairs

INT. PARENTS’ ROOM – CONTINUOUS

Aaran bursts in.

AARAN

Dad! There’s someone downstairs!

DAD
Really? Where?

AARAN
End room. Downstairs.

Dad grabs a bat and heads down. Silence.

Aaran can’t wait any longer.

AARAN
I need to go. Make sure he’s okay.

He descends the stairs carefully.

INT. BACK ROOM – NIGHT

Aaran steps inside. the figure is standing in the corner

AARAN
Take whatever you want... just leave.
